Jordan Miller edged Poway’s two-time state wrestling champion Colt Doyle and Eastlake’s football-wrestling standout Ronnie Sallee.

Earning a football scholarship to the University of Washington, Miller excelled as a first-team All-San Diego Section defensive back for the 14-1 Pirates, who advanced to the Division I State Football Championship Bowl. The 6-foot-1 standout rarely saw the ball tossed his way after returning two interceptions for touchdowns early in the year.

In the spring, Miller captured section track titles in the 100-meter dash and the triple jump before heading to the CIF state championships, where he medaled in the long jump (fourth) and triple jump (sixth). His top marks were 10.80 seconds in the 100 meters, 24 feet, 0½ inches in the long jump and 48-4 in the triple jump. He was also a member of the Pirates’ 4×100 relay team, which qualified for the state meet.

The winners were chosen by a weighted vote with online results counting for one-third, The San Diego Union-Tribune’s vote counting for one-third and the Hall of Champions’ vote counting for one-third.
