Coach Pulu Poumele

Pulu PoumeleWith a very heavy heart, we share with you that our OHS football coach, teacher, and mentor to so many youth, has passed away this morning, June 4, 2016, Pulu Poumele. He was a Poumele with Familydevoted father, husband, friend, and community leader and supporter of all things Oceanside. Truly a respected, humble, wonderful person. Pulu, you will be so missed. RIP and in love dear sir.

Pulu PoumeleAs recently as June 2nd,  he was celebrating his oldest child, PJ’s graduation, from Oceanside High School at the Jr. Seau Pier Amphitheatre. Junior Seau was Pulu’s cousin with his family.

An Oceanside High School graduate of 1990 and a sociology major at the University of Arizona, he has played and/or coached football his whole teen and adult life.  As an undrafted free agent, Pulu signed and played as an offensive lineman for two seasons with the Cleveland Browns/Baltimore Ravens, one with the San Diego Chargers and two with Toronto in the Canadian Football League.

Oceanside is mourning with this sad loss of an Oceanside son and legend.

God Bless Pulu’s wife, Dr. Jessica Poumele, their five children and the entire family.

THERE IS A CELEBRATION OF LIFE ON JUNE 12, 4 pm, at CALVARY CHAPEL IN OCEANSIDE.
