John Maffei’s Picks – Week 4 Predictions

Ranked No. 4 in the San Diego Section, San Marcos opens Avocado League play with a 3-0 record. Offensively, the Knights are a three-headed monster with QB Miles Hastings, UCLA-bound WR Kyle Philips and RB Josh Bornes. The San Diego State-bound Bornes is also a force on defense. Oceanside had a bye last week after losing to San Clemente and beating Morse. This is a different Pirates team, attacking on the ground behind Jonathan Segi, who has 43 carries for 297 yards and 6 TDs. QB position has completed just 22 of 63 passes with 3 interceptions and no TDs.

Prediction: Oceanside 24, San Marcos 21
