Michael was born in Annapolis, Maryland, and moved with his family to Oceanside when he was 5 years old. While in high school he began his career as a barber working with his father on Camp Pendleton.  He eventually owned six barbershops in San Clemente & Oceanside, supporting the military and senior customers. In 1972, he joined the Oceanside Masonic Lodge, and in 1973 married his wife, Nancy.  He became an adult leader of the Order of DeMolay, an organization that promotes patriotism, respect, love of parents, leadership, spiritual reverence, comradeship and wholesome living.  Michael was awarded the Legion of Honor for his leadership and in guiding young men, winning first place in an international competition.   In 2003, his family relocated to Hemet, CA, where Michael joined the Menifee Masonic Lodge and becoming Master of the Lodge in 2006 and 2007.  During this time, he participated in a number of child safety programs. He is also a member of the Scottish Rite in San Diego, Colorado and Arizona.  In 2019, he was elevated to the 32nd degree Knight Commander Court of Honor.  He is currently on the foundation supporting childhood learning programs in Arizona.  Michael is a member of Al Bahr Shrine in San Diego and in 2012 became potentate (or president) in the organization.  He was a member, also president of the Shrine Clowns participating in community events and hospital visits.  He worked with the Shrine to establish a hospital clinic in Tijuana, Mexico. Michael and Nancy retired in 2020 to Arizona.  While enjoying retirement, he is working part time for SAFE Management providing security for concerts, sporting, and other community events.
