Alma Mater

Show Your Pirate Pride

Oceanside, Oceanside!
Can’t you hear us calling:
Alma Mater, dear to all,
To thee our hearts are tied.
Strong to fight,
Fair to win,
On to VICTORY…
Oceanside, Oceanside
Hail! Hail! Hail!

The above is the 1958 re-written version of the original alma mater (below) which was written by Mr. De Macedo.

Oceanside, Carlsbad
Can’t you hear us calling?
Alma Mater, dear to all,
To thee our hearts are tied.
Strong to fight, and fair to win
On to victory!
Oceanside, Carlsbad,
Hail, Hail, Hail!

The first verse was sung by the audience and this second verse was sung by the graduating class.

Happy days, Happy Days,
Mem’ries only linger
Alma Mater dear to all
To thee we say farewell
Far and wide, we’ll scatter soon,
May we meet again,
Oceanside, Oceanside
Hail, Hail, Hail

OHS Alma Mater

No one seems to know the story about the second verse of the original song, when it was written or why it doesn’t appear anywhere. If anyone knows, please email us at:historian@ohsfoundation.org
