‘Voice’ of OHS Athletics Frank Hess Passes Away

Frank Hess

For more than three decades, Frank Hess served as a teacher, administrator and the public address announcer for Oceanside High School athletics.  Mr. Hess passed away unexpectedly from heart complications on January 19, 2015, according to members of his family.

Mr. Hess served in the Navy from 1965 to 1968, then attended college, first at San Francisco City College, then San Diego City College and graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Industrial Arts and Geography.

Mr. Hess began teaching in the district at Jefferson MS in 1971.  He later taught at Lincoln MS and Oceanside High School, where he also worked as an administrator at both sites.  Mr. Hess also devoted himself as a member of the district’s CTE ROP Advisory Board.

His wife, Linda, a former teacher and site administrator in the district, passed away in July 2010.  Please keep the Hess family in your thoughts and prayers.

A “Celebration of Life” was held in the OHS Gym on Jan. 30 to honor Mr. Hess.
