Concert at new Performing Arts Center a huge success

With huge anticipation of the opening of the new Performing Arts Center at Oceanside High School, the wonderful comments about the OHS Benefit Concert  have not stopped pouring in. Held on Saturday, September 30th, the line up of talented OHS graduates and those associated with the high school was over the top. Entertaining, delightful and outstanding were just some of the comments from the concert goers.

The Oceanside High School Foundation would like to thank the voters who approved the bond measure so this center could be built to benefit the students and community, Dr. Duane Coleman & OUSD members, OHS Principal Teresa Collis & staff for their unceasing support, our talented performers who participated, Mr. Mark Phelps and Eliane Weidauer for the endless hours dedicated to putting together this special program, our sponsors, and most of all, those of you who purchased tickets and supported this event. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Congratulations to co-hosts Duane Coleman and Willie Buchanan, music director Mark Phelps, stage manager Eliane Weidauer, all the featured and accompanying musicians and the directors who prepared them, and all the members of the OHS Foundation who worked so hard to make this a spectacular event. It was!

It was a tremendous thrill to share the stage with so many
talented OHS graduates – the energy on the stage was intoxicating –
and I hope that excitement was communicated to the audience.
Equally important was to see and hear the current students showing their
talents – the string orchestra, choir and the dancers; the future looks AND sounds

You know the thing that struck me looking back on the evening was the pride that everyone displayed. The performers were so proud and honored and the their teachers were simply beaming. I couldn’t stop smiling during most of the performance. Thank you for letting me be a part.
A very proud pirate.
