Dr. Duane Coleman is an educational leader and consultant with more than 40 years of experience in public education. He has served in roles ranging from teacher and coach to superintendent in Oceanside Unified School District, and also served as an assistant principal and principal in other California school districts. He currently serves as an adjunct professor at National University, consults through Coleman Educational Systems LLC, and works independently as an educational expert witness for law firms.

Dr. Coleman earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Hawaii where he attended on a full football scholarship. He also earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration, a Master’s degree in Educational Technology, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. He has remained active in educational and community leadership including serving as founder of Oceanside Promise, later known as North County Promise; as President and member of the San Diego County CIF Board of Managers; as a CIF State Executive Board member; and as a member of the San Diego County College and Career Readiness Consortium.

His work has helped expand lasting student opportunities, including a middle school sports partnership model with the Encinitas Boys and Girls Club that was later adopted more broadly across San Diego County and now serves more than 20,000 students. Dr. Coleman continues to mentor teachers, school leaders, and district administrators throughout California.
