Through the benevolent and generous giving from individuals and families, the Foundation has been able to help countless students.

Oceanside High School has outstanding students who, with the help of the OHS Foundation has funded thousands of dollars to student scholarships for graduating seniors to continue with their post-secondary education.

Arthur Ray and Marilyn Lambson Memorial Scholarship

Mr. Lambson was a music teacher at OHS for many years, this scholarship is given in his memory.

This scholarship was set up and is funded by Mr. Ward Lewis. Mr. Lewis (class of 1970) generously donates annually on behalf of four individuals who have had a significant impact on his life.

The Ashton family believes in the value of an education and this scholarship is awarded to a student who plans to obtain either a two- or four-year degree, vocational or trade certificate in the science/technology fields.

This scholarship in memory of his father who struggled through many hardships throughout his life, rose above it all and was successful in real estate and a church leader.

The Warner family graciously donates scholarships annually in memory of their mother, Billie, who worked with special education students at OHS from 1976 to 2001 and their father, Clyde, who taught within the Oceanside Unified School district for many years.

Louie Hoehne was the father of 5 children who all graduated from OHS. Louie worked hard for everything he had and that work ethic was instilled in his children both on and off the field. His children were very involved in school and in athletics with extremely supportive parents in everything they did. This scholarship is for the student that demonstrates a great attitude in the classroom and on the athletic field and one who never gives up. His family is honoring him with this scholarship so his legacy will continue.

Cathie Hatter & Patti Gascon, Mickey Stolzoff’s daughters, donate annually for this scholarship.  This scholarship is for a Health Career Academy student planning to continue in the Nursing Program at MiraCosta College. Mrs. Stolzoff was an OHS graduate in 1936.

The Oceanside High School Foundation gives from $500 to $2000 each year to graduating Seniors who have made a significant impact while attending Oceanside High School.  The amount given each year depends on the donations received.

This scholarship has been a joint effort by the following people: Kevin Grump, Michelle Montjoy, Marguerite Montjoy, Tish Kawcak, Ryan Everest, HR mechanical Corp, Karen Mulgrew, and Debbie Foley. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has participated in the Visual or Performing Arts at OHS.

Lou & Jim Fosnot, Counselors at Oceanside High School, have generously donated each year for a Community Service Scholarship offered to a student who has given back to the community through service, dedication and hard work.

Ms. Robertson was an elementary school teacher for the OUSD for 35 years. She loved children and knows the value of an education. Watching OHS basketball was her passion, rarely missing a game. Through this passion came a desire to give back to OHS. These scholarships go to female students who plan to pursue a career in any of the STEM fields.

This generous family offers a scholarship annually to graduating students.  Both Rita and Robert are 1962 graduates of Oceanside High School.  Their scholarship is designated to a student who has participated in the OHS Robotics Club or similar interests.

This scholarship given by the Gabriel family in memory of their parents is awarded to a graduating Senior who is planning on majoring in music or education while in college. Mr. Calvin Gabriel taught at Oceanside Carlsbad High School for many years and then became the business manager for the school district in the 1940’s. Cal also enjoyed playing music and performed in bands and symphonies until his death in 2000.

This scholarship is given on behalf of Mr. Mensching and his wife, a US Marine and WWII POW, who later became a prominent banker and successful businessman.

William Bragg Family Scholarship

William Bragg is a 1985 graduate of OHS. William spent 13 years in the OUSD system and would not trade that experience for anything. He felt it would be good to give back to his childhood community. He was also a product of the Community College system and he knows it is a great place to start. Therefore, his scholarship is for a student planning to attend a Community College after high school.

Val Alley, a 1956 OHS graduate, donates annually to this scholarship. Each year this scholarship goes to a Health Career Academy student planning to continue in the medical field at MiraCosta College.

The Kitchin family generously donated) annually in memory of Robert, who taught Social Studies at Oceanside High School for many years.

This one-time scholarship was offered after their 50th high school reunion with funds remaining after their reunion. This scholarship was established to help a graduating Senior with post-secondary expenses.

A one-time scholarship was offered after Arthur’s untimely death at the age 49. The Arthur Hemingway Foundation was established to assist Marching Band students further their education. Arthur Hemingway graduated from OHS in 1978 and had a promising career as a fullback at USC but it was cut short after becoming paralyzed when he was hit by a car during fall football camp of his 1978 freshman season.

Marc Wilson, a 1968 graduate of OHS, who was a very successful businessman, offered a scholarship to a student who demonstrated an interest in a career in business or economics.

Wally was the “Voice of the Pirates” for decades announcing the OHS football games.
