Pirates Football Reunion

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Elks Club in Oceanside, the OHS Pirate football community celebrated the magnificent coaching years of John Carroll at OHS – from 1989 to 2014.  Anyone who played or coached varsity football during those years was invited, and well over 250 formers players and coaches attended.  Many stories were told (some were even true!), memories shared, friendships rekindled and the chance to get to know brother Pirates from other years was provided as the attendees came together to celebrate the victories of OHS Pirate football during those years.

With Coach John Carroll moderating the event the following accomplishments were celebrated:

• 26 consecutive CIF playoff appearances
• 21 consecutive CIF semi-finals appearances
• 17 CIF section titles games
• 15 league championships
• 13 CIF section titles
• 11 consecutive CIF final appearances
• 7 consecutive CIF section titles
• 4 undefeated regular seasons
• 3 state appearances
• 2 state championships
• 1^st team to win a state title 

John Carroll had an accomplished career at OHS and the entire community is grateful to him and his dedication, not only to football, but to each one of us as part of the OHS family.
